Body Scrubs & Body Polish

One of the steps in our body care which we tend to skip or are too lazy to do it is scrubbing. We scrub our faces but we tend to forget our bodies. Some of us scrub our legs or hands if you suffer from ingrowth but we tend to forget our stomachs, underarms, shoulders and our butts yes we need to use a scrub all over that’s the only way our body shed the dead skin and new skin comes up and this new skin is much softer and smoother. Also if you are someone who shaves regularly this is the most important routine for you which you should follow twice a week. But at the same time see that you are not scrubbing too hard and that granules aren’t too harsh on your skin. I am a huge polish your body fan so I do it twice a week without fail and because of this, I don’t suffer from bad ingrowth. Some of the scrubs and polishes I use are as follows.

The difference between scrub and polish is in the granules. Scrub is better for ingrowth hair and if you have rough dead skin. Scrubs are usually sugar or salt-based, these types of scrubs exfoliate your skin better. Polishes have small granules which work more on smoothing your skin and doesn’t work the best for tough ingrowth hair. But regular use of body polish really keeps your skin soft and smooth.

Marks & Spencer NATURE’S INGREDIENTS Cocoa Butter Body Scrub

My Experience:

My Bff gave me this as a gift and I totally love it. So I have used M&S shower gels before they are good but not the best at that price so I didn’t ever buy their scrub but they do have various variants which smell divine, especially their flower scents. The scent of this is not too girly so even men can use this without fusses. This has a woodier fresh scent to it and it doesn’t really linger for long after the shower so it’s cool but its definitely refreshing on the skin. Feels really cooling on the skin and the granules you see are really sparse and tiny and not harsh on the skin but does the job of scrubbing really well. Works for ingrowth too. A moisturizer is important afterwards though.

My Recommendation:

If you are looking for a mild everyday scrub then this is good and they do have different variants in this especially the lemon one smells divine.

Bath and Body Works Coco Shea Cucumber Really Refreshing Foaming Scrub

My Experience:

I’m sorry this isn’t available in India. I bought this variant from Dubai a while back and I totally love it. But the formula and consistency of the Bath and Body Works foaming scrub is the same. They have sugar scrubs available in their stores and online which I’ll link down you can check it out. This is my fav and I’m using this really slowly since I can’t find this one here. Their cucumber range smells divine. It smells exactly like cucumber pulp with a hint of mint in it and its very nourishing on the skin since it has shea butter in it. Because it’s gel-based it’s not heavy on the skin. It doesn’t clog your pores and its mild enough for everyday use too. If you use this in the morning it will wake your senses and your skin quicker then caffeine I promise if you see this variant anywhere just buy it. I feel bad I don’t have the matching body lotion.

The Body Shop Special Edition Banana Body Polish

Price: Rs 845/- for 200 ml

My Experience:

Another one I truly love. I have always liked The Body Shop Polishes I have used their other variants but this took my heart. This reminds me of my childhood, as a kid I used to eat these sugary banana candies and this smells exactly like that. Also plus point, it feels amazing on the skin. It leaves your skin super soft and smooth even without the moisturizer afterward. It’s very mild on the skin, I literally use this every second day. It foams up really well so you don’t need to use a soap or shower gel beforehand. Works great after waxing or shaving, don’t use it before since its very moisturizing.

My Recommendation:

If you like the banana candy scent then go for this. If you hate sweet scent then skip it.

The Body Shop Satsuma Energising Body Polish

Price: Rs 695/- for 200 ml

My Experience:

I have used this one a lot and now I am bored. I finished this one a while back saved it for the review now will give it for recycling. Body Shop does have a lot of varieties in their body polish range for every skin type and scent lover but their satsuma is the oldest after the strawberry one, I am bored of that one too. My latest obsession is the banana one so gonna stock up on that before its over. These types of polishes are great if you suffer from tiny bumps on your arms and back.

My Recommendation:

It’s good and reliable and they have various scents in this range. I am actually bored of this scent so not buying it for a while.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub (old limited edition)

My Experience:

We have already established I am a body shop addict when it comes to their body care range and that’s because they do make amazing quality products that works great for all skin types without causing harm. The other two I spoke about are polishes and this is scrub this has proper granules for the scrubbing part also these aren’t harsh on the skin. These don’t foam up a lot so I would suggest using a shower gel or soap beforehand for thorough cleaning.

These work great for skin refreshment, leaves the skin smooth not as soft as the body polish but the scent of these lingers longer. These are more of a luxury spa product at okay pricing it’s not meant for ingrowth hair or removing stubborn dead skin. I mostly love this one for the scent, it wakes my senses up like no other and makes my skin smooth.

My Recommendation:

Sadly this one isn’t available because it smells like a fresh garden with a lot of mint in the air. It’s like you are drinking a mojito but you can definitely try the other variants available.

BRYAN AND CANDY Body Polish Cocoa Shea

Price: Rs 600/- for 200 gm

To buy it online: Click Here (Nykaa Link)

My Experience:

If you have dry skin and prefer creamy not too heavy scrubs then this is it for you. This smells like delicious chocolate but it’s not too sweet its more cocoa. When you touch it you feel the tiny particles/granules which feel amazing on the skin and since they are so tiny they do the job without hurting you. It is a proper polish since it leaves your skin soft, smooth and also even-toned. This is a great one to use after shaving or waxing. This is one of my fav body polish even more then the body shop ones actually but this is supposed to be used only once a week. The price is affordable and one tub is gonna last you a minimum of 6 months even if you use it regularly so its a great investment.

My Recommendation:

Definitely a, yes It’s affordable and lasts a good amount of time and its soo good on the skin. works for all-weather especially winter and is great for ingrowth hair.

BRYAN AND CANDY Sugar Body Scrub – Orange & Mandarin

Price: Rs 675/-

To buy it online: Click Here (Nykaa Link)

(Also available on amazon.in)

My Experience:

This smells exactly like the divine orange and let me tell you its one of the best sugar scrubs I have used at this price. They have beautiful varieties in this range like the green tea and mango fruti and they all smell amazing and feel great on the skin. So to use this you first have to get your body wet and then take some in your hand be careful don’t contaminate the tub and see that the water doesn’t go in the tub. Then you can spread and scrub on your body, while you do that the sugar melts away. It’s very moisturizing and doesn’t leave your skin dry even though you are exfoliating at the same time. This is great to use before waxing or shaving. This one really helps with stubborn ingrowth hair and dead skin or if you have rough knees and elbows, it doesn’t lighten them but does make them smooth. Overall I definitely love this. I have used up half of it already.

My Recommendation:

Yes, if you are someone who shaves every second day and nothing else has worked for your in growth then you have to get one of the variants from this range. It really does work and its affordable.

Orvel Apricot Scrub

My Experience:

It is available online I just don’t know where, when I’ll find it I’ll add it here. This is actually a face scrub but its too harsh for the face so I use this for my body but specifically use this for my neck area. Our neck is a part we tend to forget a lot and that’s what ages faster than the rest of your body and mine has already aged since I have pigmentation and darkness there and I suffer from moles which is hereditary so I need to scrub my neck more often than not but at the same time I have to see I don’t strip it dry so I use this since its scream based its moisturizing and it works really well in the scrubbing away dead skin part. Also, this is super affordable since it’s for around 100-200 and usually it’s one buy get one free. You will find this in small beauty stores and beauty center. I usually buy this in some kind of exhibition on offers.

My Recommendation:

If you don’t want much fuss with scent and all with your scrub then this is a good option since its creamy and works great to remove dead skin.

My Rating: 3/5

Yes I have too many body scrubs and you don’t need to buy so many, you just need one at a time. I am an addict and I can’t help myself so ignore my habits and just enjoy the reviews. I have a few other body scrubs too like from Pure elements which are really good too which I’ll review separately also I have another one from the Body Shop which is on the expensive side, I will review that with the body lotion from the same category in a later post since that scrub does deserve a whole review for itself its that good.
