Travel Series: Makeup Edition

So I have a few trips planned this month and one is vacation and one is work so I have to be prepared for both. I like to pack certain basic items the same and then there are some I switch according to my destination and if I’m gonna party or gonna be ready for business. Since I was packing anyway I decided why not share how I do it since its gonna be summer soon and some of us like taking summer vacation whether small or big.

You can obviously add and subtract according to your preference, this is a basic outline of the things I pack with me for my trips. This is the makeup edition which also includes my face skincare base like sunscreen and moisturizer.

1. FACE-CARE (Base for makeup)

Now this majorly depends on my destination. If I’m going to cold place I prefer carrying thicker and more moisturizer and If I’m going to Beaches or somewhere its gonna be hot I carry creams which are gel based and definitely a sunscreen with higher SPF. I carry an extra moisturizer always since I have dry skin, if you have oily skin you can carry only one moisturizer according to your preference.

  • SPF is must for me either way and I love that the Neutrogena one comes in small size that goes in your hand bag so you can reapply during the day and also its sweat proof so works great for beach weather.
  • I also like carrying a moisturizer which has inbuilt SPF for added protection and I definitely love the Himalaya youth eternity and it also comes in different sizes since I’m going for week I’m taking the big size otherwise I carry the small one which comes in small tube for rs 99/-
  • As I’m getting older I tend to worry about my eye area so I have recently started carrying an eye cream. I tend to carry any small samples but I been really liking the Himalaya youth eternity since its not very heavy.
  • Clinique Dramatically Different Jelly moisturizer is a recent love and this helps my sensitive skin to stay cool and hydrated and protects me from the pollution. I’ll do a full review of this soon before this I carried the Innisfree Orchid Cream sample size since its also gel based.

2. MAKE-UP BASE PRODUCTS:

Now these products depends on whether I’m going for vacation or work. Now even if i’m on vacation I don’t like looking like a mess and for me to look okay enough I need to use some kind of base products.

  • I prefer matte base for beach vacation and dewy base for winter weather. This is gonna be beach vacation and hot weather work thing for me so I’m carrying the Maybelline Fit me Foundation tube which is new and a blessing for me. Before this I used to carry the Fit me Stick which gave me very light and skin like finish but I like this tube better since I dont have to carry a separate concealer with me.
  • I carry contour everywhere mostly a cream stick but I like this Wet and Wild contour palette more since it comes with a brightening powder which I use to set my whole face and can skip carrying a compact powder.
  • Highlighter is new to me and I love carrying the cream one since I can mix it with foundation, face cream and also body creams for that extra glow and I have been loving the Maybelline one.
  • Blush is something I have never carried before but I have been loving the glow and I want to go partying this vacation so I’m carrying a small Maybelline fit me blush since I m going with the whole range of Maybelline Fit me anyway

3. MAKEUP BRUSHES:

So I have addiction to brushes so I always carry one two many but my staple is a stripling brush since it works for creams and powders and also helps in final blending. I also keep a small brush which works for foundation, contour as well as blush. I just prefer using my fingers for highlighter but I do keep a small round brush for that or I use the brush to conceal under my eyes and for spot coverage. I carrying this angular eye brush since it will help me smudging my eyeliner as well as help me with my eyebrows if I feel the need. Over all you can just skip all this and just carry a sponge which works for everything or better yet just use your fingers which I end up doing lot.

4. ALL ABOUT EYES:

If I have a function or wedding because of which I am traveling I obviously carry an eyeshadow palette but if I’m just going for a small trip I carry kajal pencils/ eyeliners. I sometimes carry coloured eye pencils so I can use them as eyeshadow but here I am only carrying a black and a brown with an angular brush to smudge and blend the shade.
Mascaras have become a must for me recently here I’m carrying the L’Oreal Paradise because its waterproof and since I am going for a beach vacation I prefer something that won’t smudge on me otherwise I would carry my fav Maybelline Lash Sensational the washable version.

5. LIP LOVE OF ALL TIME:

Okay so Lipsticks is something I carry obsessively. Even when I don’t carry makeup I carry lipsticks with me. I tend to always over pack in this area so I have started to carry lip liners so I can mix and match my lip shades. I prefer carry twist up lip liners so I don’t have to worry about sharpening. I carry one of nude one pink and one red. In lipsticks I see that I have a nude and red shade which can be worn as a stain too. I’ have been loving the new L’Oreal pro matte lipstick formula, its seriously budge proof and lasted me through two very messy meals. I’ll do a full review on it soon. I also own a lot of mini liquid lipsticks which I tend to carry if I have a lot of functions to attend during that trip.

Because I wear lipsticks so much and that to of a long wearing kind I need something that will help me remove it easily at the end of the day. So the NYX one has been my fav for a while. It is multi purpose since you can also use it as a lip balm and it also works as a transparent gloss over matte lipsticks. I travel with this everywhere whether my trip is small or big.

You can obviously change according to your preferences and the destination and number of days. You can always just use this as an outline of the things you will need if you plan to pack a makeup vanity for next trip.
