Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Serum Review

Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Serum is a BHA serum that is great to use if you suffer from oily acne-prone skin. Even if you have a lot of blackheads & whiteheads, BHA serums are the best choice. To know whether this one is good or not you will have to keep on reading. Also adding a comparison with my favorite BHA serum by Dr.Sheth’s.

If you are someone who doesn’t know what is BHA and what it does, check out this detailed post on it by CLICKING HERE.

Product Description:

  • Our salicylic acid easily penetrates the pore lining and scoops out the dirt, debris, and sebum (clinically proven to work better than oil-based traditional salicylic acid), so skin looks clear and baby-soft
  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing formula made with aloe vera juice instead of water present in other serums to soothe the irritation generally associated with exfoliation
  • Formulated with RonaCare Salicylic Acid Extra Pure from Merck, Germany, a global natural chemistry company
Ingredients:

Aloe Vera Juice, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Propylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Propanediol, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Pullulan, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Lecithin

Price: Rs 549/- for 30ml

Packaging:

Simple effective packaging for the formula. Glass bottle with a dropper with important information on the bottle. That way I don’t have to worry about keeping the outer box. It’s a common type of packaging so not going into much detail about it. I do like the quality of the packaging especially the dropper, works very well.

Formula:

Most of the Minimalist serums are aloe vera juice based which is great for all skin types unless you are allergic. The consistency is liquidy, easy to apply, and blends on the skin. It’s not sticky or goopy while applying on the skin plus absorbs in few seconds. Has no fragrance so thats good. Coming to its workings, it is a good serum for oily skin since it mattifies your skin instantly. But if you are from a dry skin family you will need a good layer of hydrating serum underneath plus a good moisturizer on top. This formula works with all types of moisturizers without pilling.

My Experience:

Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Serum worked well for me but it did not blow me away, so it’s not going in my repurchase list. But every skin is different. So I am gonna explain what this serum did for me and you can decide whether you need it in your life or not.

For me personally, it worked at managing the excess oil on the nose and around it. Skin texture has improved but also made my skin dry to very peeling off dry even after following it up with a moisturizer. I always follow up with a ceramide-based moisturizer but it isn’t enough with this one so I mix a few drops of facial oil with the moisturizer.

In terms of blackheads and whiteheads, it made no difference which is super weird since it controlled the excess sebum on my nose. And for acne pop-ups, it did work to a great extent but slower compared to how Dr.Sheth’s one works. Now for this summer I am still using this one and will finish it but won’t repurchase since I already repurchased Dr.Sheth’s BHA serum.

Should you buy Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Serum?

If you have oily skin and need something that mattifies and controls the excess sebum then this one is for you. But if you have dry skin or dehydrated skin then this one will dry out your skin more. Both work on acne but for me, Dr.Sheth’s BHA serum works better for hormonal acne comparatively. For stubborn blackheads and whiteheads, this isn’t it. But if you are someone who is allergic to neem or essential oils then you would prefer this BHA serum especially in hot humid weather.

Comparison to Dr.Sheth’s Neem & BHA Serum:

I personally still like Dr.Sheth’s BHA serum, it just suits my skin type and needs better. But if you are oily skin then I think you would like Minimalist 2% BHA serum more as compared to Dr.Sheth’s one. If you are looking for stubborn blackheads & whiteheads this doesn’t do much in those terms, at least it didn’t for me. Both work great for sensitive skin so you can get either depending on what concern you need it for. To understand the basic difference between them check out the table below. It will be more helpful.
