DIY (Do it yourself) Miniso Skincare

Its Tea Time DIY

So if you have read a few of my posts you will know I love skincare and if I find an interesting DIY that will work and show results I am all up for it. So a while back I came across this teabag recipe and then I saw this compressed sheet masks so I got to researching and found this routine of sheet mask a day but the serum was made from tea leaves so I obviously got down to trying it and I tried a few variations with different mixtures and after a lot of trial and error I bring to you a new kind of DIY which includes our new favorite sheet masks.

The ingredients you need for this DIY are

  • Compressed sheet masks (You can find these on amazon, beauty shops and also Miniso)
  • Tea bags (you can use different tea bags depending on skin concerns which I’ll explain further)
  • Essentials oil (mostly this is Tea Tree and its optional, you can add this if you suffer from severe acne or Lavender oil if you have inflamed skin)

We have all heard that tea is good for you and especially the whole green tea craze for weight loss and glowing skin trend has really taken on. So why not use tea as face serums for direct effect. We all love sheet masks and we have all heard the benefits of using sheet masks everyday but buying sheet masks constantly isn’t economical and single use of sheet masks randomly literally does nothing for you.

Here you can make your own sheet mask at fraction of the cost and use it everyday for good results.

Tea according to skin concerns:

  • Red Tea: Anti ageing (Basically it can be any fruit but you will get red color only if you use cranberry or apple tea. You can also use lemon or orange tea for vitamin C presence).
  • Ginger Tea: For Glow (A lot of people suffer from dull skin, so this is perfect for them. Now you can use black tea which has ginger too or you can use the plain ginger and lemon tea which we all keep for cold season).
  • Green Tea: For Oily Skin (Green tea is hydrating without making your skin greasy so this is perfect for all oily skin people out there. Green tea absorbs the extra oil from your face and gives it the right amount of hydration. You can always use the flavored green tea too for added benefits).
  • Black Tea: For Acne (This is perfect for people who suffer from acne of any kind on a recurring basis. You can always use the lemon black tea or ginger black tea for extra benefits)

The first thing you have to do is to boil the tea whether its black or green tea. The tea has to be strong for the sheet masks to absorb all the ingredients and its benefits so boil it for a while. You can use it hot or cold but it should not be too hot. I prefer the tea to be cold as then the sheet mask feels cooling on the skin. Now what you can do is make the tea with tea bags/ leaves and once its cool store it in a glass bottle and keep it in the fridge. You can remove as when you need it. You don’t need much. This should last you for the week and you won’t have to make tea everyday and you won’t be wasting any tea bags/leaves in the process.

Take the compressed sheet mask and pour a little tea on it in a bowl or take some tea in a small glass and insert the compressed sheet mask in it. The sheet mask will expand and then remove the excess by squeezing it but don’t squeeze it too much either, the sheet mask needs to be wet and soaked in tea. Open up the mask and apply it on your face and keep it for 10 mins. When you feel the mask is getting dry you can dissolve the sheet mask in some tea again and apply it on the skin for another 10 mins for extra absorption. See that you throw away the sheet mask after the use and not reuse it the next day.

You can also add some essential oil to the tea as to your skin requirements. Tea tree is great if you suffer from severe acne. Lavender oil is good for sensitive skin and who suffer from inflammation. You have to use this for a week continuous to see a proper result. The best way to use this is to use it for 10 days regularly every month.

I’m gonna post this method on my Instagram on IGTV also and link it so you can check it out in action too.

My cousin suffers from cystic acne all the time and I tried the black tea with lemon (also added a drop of Tea Tree oil) on her and she continued it for another 10 days and it has made a huge difference on her skin. The acne have reduced much faster and also did not leave a scar while fading which is amazing. She loved it so much she is using this DIY recipe every alternate day now.

I myself prefer using the ginger version since I have dull skin and use the black tea with ginger combination which helps with the little heat boils I get due to weather changes. I also add a drop of lemon essential oil when I feel I need the extra brightness.

The benefits of red tea will only show after regular use for 2 months since its aging related but it does show positive effects.

You can modify it according to your skin concerns which is the benefit of DIY’s

ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST BEFORE TRYING OUT ANY NEW DIY RECIPE

  • You can buy the teas at any local vendor or online shops. You can buy the tea bags or the leaves depending on your preferences but see that the tea is strong otherwise it won’t work.
  • You can find the compressed sheet masks online here: Click here
  • You can find the compressed sheet masks in beauty shops and Miniso too. Go for the ones which say thin fiber since those absorb better. The miniso ones I have are thinner compared to the one I got from amazon ones. But they are both good and work well.

Do try it out and let me know if you like this DIY and if you want more such recipes

For reference: I have dull, dry to combination (my nose is oily) and sensitive skin and have pigmentation around my lips and on the outline of my face. I’m not prone to acne but I do get them and sometimes heat boils due to weather change which do leave marks sometimes. I have few blemishes too on my face. I have dark circles under my eyes.
