My Experience with Dr. Sheth’s Vitamin C Cleansing Oil:

If you have read my Double Cleansing blog post you would remember me saying I am not a fan of oil cleansers and that I prefer cleansing balms instead. Well, I take my words back I have become a fan of cleansing oil with this one.

Addition to the cleanser:

I got this cleansing oil before the launch from the brand to give it a try and they gave us an option of DIY’ing it. Where I added a few drops of Bakuchiol oil (known as natural retinol) Hemp oil (works great for sensitive skin & acne skin) and Rosehip Oil (which works great for pigmentation and also for dry skin) I also added the fragrance Lavender oil (works to calm your skin). These are extra ingredients that you won’t get in the oil they will be launching. (it’s available on pre-order right now)

The main base for the oil is Moringa and Vitamin C. Also this oil has coconut oil which is known to be comedogenic (means it will break you out in the longer run) but the oil is broken down and it is non-comedogenic (means it won’t clog your pores) which was specified by Dr. Aneesh Sheth himself. He also said how Indian skin is different compared to other skins so our concerns and its solutions need to be specific to that. We live in more polluted places especially those of us who live in the cities and we need that extra cleansing step which is known as double cleansing in our PM skincare routine where the cleansing oil comes into play. Indian skin is also hyperactive because of this existing pollution which makes our skin irritated easily which means it’s sensitive.

Since the base of the cleansing oil is Moringa and it helps to break down the pollution and makeup better and the Vitamin C present is also oil-based which again helps in breaking down pollution and makeup but it also gives you brighter skin and more radiant skin. The oil doesn’t have any strong scent. In fact, even though I added lavender oil for the fragrance I don’t really smell it while applying it on the skin so if you have a sensitive nose you would really like to use this cleansing oil.

How Dr. Sheth’s Vitamin C Cleansing Oil  works:

So this works like your regular cleanser, where you take a pump or two in your hands and directly apply it to your face. Do this first step on dry skin and after you massage it on your face and neck then wet your finger and massage it some more this will emulsify the oil. This whole process barely takes 15 to 20 seconds and then you can wash it off. Now I prefer using warm water (not hot) I feel it cleans my skin much better compared to cold water. This doesn’t burn my eyes in any way which is very rare for me. All oil cleansers tend to burn my eyes that’s why I always go for cleansing balms but this doesn’t burn or make my eyes water at all. In fact, it even removes my mascara, eyeliner, or any other eye makeup at one go. For very stubborn waterproof mascara I do go over with mild micellar water but this has been really working for me which made me so happy and made me love cleansing oil.

DRY SKIN:

If you have dry skin you can skip using another cleanser after using this cleansing oil because it doesn’t leave any oily residue and your skin feels pretty clean. If you didn’t have any heavy makeup on you can skip the following cleanser but if you tend to apply base makeup then do follow it up with another water-based face wash.

P.S I have dry skin with an oily T zone so it does act in combination most days and this oil works great for my skin. When I double cleanse with a stronger cleanser my skin does feel dry but if I follow up with a mild cleanser or Dr.Sheth’s daily cleanser it didn’t dry my skin out. It makes my skin brighter more radiant and feels smooth to the touch.

OILY SKIN:

You have to follow it up with a water-based face wash/cleanser because it’s safer that way. Since oily skin is more prone to breakouts it’s better to follow a double cleansing routine.

P.S I made my cousin’s sister try this cleansing oil since she has oily acne-prone skin and she did a double cleanse followed by Dr. Sheth’s Daily cleanser. Her skin felt much brighter and clean. She even had a glow and her skin didn’t feel dry at all and the oil didn’t break her out. In fact, she loved using it so much she has already pre-ordered the cleansing oil.

My Recommendation:

I would suggest totally go for it whether you apply makeup or don’t whether you have dry skin or oily skin just go give this a try since the bottle is only 50 ml you can use it up. For me, it’s totally worth it and once I finish mine I’ll purchase it.
