Packaging:

If you have used Dr.Sheth’s products then this one is similar. Brown plastic bottle with pump packaging. It is lightweight and compact to travel with. Very basic information is printed on the bottle itself. Most information is printed on the cardboard box the bottle comes in. The pump hasn’t given me any problems and there is no leakage either. But I do wish they change their pump since some do come defective.

Formula:

This formula is my fav ever when it comes to using chemicals. The composition is 2.5% Lactic Acid and 2.5% Glycolic Acid in AHA and 0.5% salicylic acid in BHA. But the best part is that it has Centella extracts which makes it soothing making it perfect for sensitive skin. The name is really perfect.

Consistency is gel-like with red small dots that dissolve once you mix it with water. It foams up a little when you rub it between wet hands, not as much as a regular cleanser. The formula doesn’t have added fragrance but it has a really mild scent to it that goes away the moment you mix it with water. Usually, two pumps of this work the best for single use.

My Experience:

I am a big fan of chemical exfoliation but I always went for peels, thinking I need a stronger formulation to show results. So I never go for basic cleanser or toner in most cases. But when Dr.Sheth’s launched this I had to try it because I genuinely love what they make since most of their products work beautifully on sensitive skin. Well, this formulation is no different. It is made for sensitive Indian skin making it perfect for all skin types of all age groups and gender.

I have been using chemical peels for a while now, I have used them in-house chemical peel, the ordinary peeling solution. Have also tried Dot & Key exfoliating serum and Tvakh one which is way too strong for sensitive skin and have been trying out the Minimalist Peel too. So basically I know chemical-based products and how they work. But if you don’t know about AHA & BHA then do check out my posts on them to understand it better: CLICK HERE

When I started using this exfoliating cleanser I stopped using any kind of physical exfoliating products especially powder cleansers. I have sensitive skin and I did not want to over-exfoliate. But I also did not feel the need to use anything else since this ABC cleansing gel does a really good job. I stopped using peels too. Too much of anything isn’t good for you.

I have been taking some new medication and its causing havoc on my skin with random acne & heat boil pop ups using Dr.Sheth’s ABC cleansing gel has really been helping me manage them.

How I like to use it:

I use this 3 times a week (only at night) since it’s mild and my skin is already used to chemical ingredients. But on the days I know I am gonna use AHA or BHA serum or Retinoid then I skip this. Also, I don’t mix this with Vitamin C based products either. Even if your skin can take it why make it go through it. I always follow this up with a hydrating routine that has Hyaluronic acid & ceramides in them. Their in-house Cica & Ceramide Serum is the best option to try.

I sometimes use it right after shaving my face (usually chemical isn’t recommended after or before shaving since your skin gets really sensitive but this is a mild cleanser that doesn’t stay long on the skin so you can use it). Every time I use this after shaving I see that it works much better. Also, I have noticed that I don’t get bumps and boils after shaving if I use this cleanser.

I don’t just use this on my face but I also like to use this cleanser on different parts of my body:

Neck:

I suffer from terrible patchy & dark skin layers on my neck. It’s due to hormones, Insulin resistance & well my own laziness. So now I need to do extra in that area. Using this cleanser has been helping compared to anything else I have tried. It keeps the area clean and I see the dead skin slowly peeling away. Making my skin smoother and softer to the touch. But always follow it up with a good barrier building moisturizer like ceramide based. I use it 3 to 4 times a week on my neck in combination with a body cleanser.

Underarms:

Did you hear someone say apply glycolic acid for your underarm pigmentation? Well, it does work but only in a lower concentration. If you use higher than 5-7% it will cause a lot of irritation and will lead to more darkening. So I never recommend using chemical peels for your underarms but since this is a mild cleanser I thought why not give it a try. And well I am not disappointed. I use this 4 times a week unless I’m applying charcoal or red clay mask. The week I use something else I reduce the number of uses accordingly.

It works really well in thoroughly cleaning your underarms without over-drying them. The area feels clean, smooth to the touch. Bonus you smell good and it controls excess sweat. I saw a huge difference after using this cleanser. The dead skin that was constantly forming on my underarms due to hormonal issues has started to peel away and I don’t see new growth. If I follow it up with an underarm serum the area stays soft and fresh for longer. You can also use a lightweight moisturizer. Just skip heavy alcohol-based deo right after using this cleanser.

Under my breasts:

If you are heavy breasted like me you know the constant struggle of an underwired bra and the marks that it leaves behind. For some reason all our sweat is accumulated there too and well that causes rashes, acne and I get a lot of heat boils. I always used a body scrub regularly to remove the dead skin cells but recently I started using this exfoliating cleanser and it has made my life easier. The sweating has reduced, skin feels smoother and cleaner, also no smell like I can skip a body mist and still smell nice. Constant itchiness has reduced by 50%. I am also seeing some old marks fading little by little. I use the cleanser in the shower and when I am using it for my neck and underarms I use it for my under boob area too. A total of 3 to 4 pump covers all areas.

Arms:

Do you suffer from dry rough patches on your arms? Have small red and white looking bumps that itch sometimes but usually don’t hurt or are painful? They especially becoming angry looking when you wax or shave. Then dude you have keratosis pilaris (I’ll talk about it more later). Most of us suffer from it and it not because you doing something wrong or eating something wrong. In most cases, they just happen and get severe if you already suffer from hormonal imbalance.

Using AHA in mild dosages is recommended with a good moisturizing routine. I used a lot of stuff on it but the way this ABC cleansing gel has helped nothing else has. But using a good hydrating & moisturizing body lotion is highly recommended. And use this on your arms only 3 times a week and not more. If used too much it can cause dryness.

Scalp:

Dr.Sheth’s themselves suggested using this as a mild scalp exfoliator and since I do chemically exfoliate my scalp pretty regularly since I suffer from dandruff so I thought to give this a try. I used it a couple of times but I’m not the biggest fan. It actually makes my scalp itchier and I think that’s because of salicylic acid. BHA makes my dry itchy scalp drier and makes my hair frizz out more. I also noticed that my scalp got oily quicker whenever I used this. So I wouldn’t recommend it for the scalp if you have a flaky dry scalp. If you have a normal to very oily scalp then you would enjoy this more. But do follow it up with a good hair conditioner. Also, don’t use this on dirty hair. Use a mild shampoo to clean your scalp before you use this exfoliating cleanser.

The difference I see after using Dr.Sheth’s ABC Cleansing Gel

  • My skin feels smoother to the touch
  • Looks more evened out
  • No more clogged pores (if used regularly)
  • Definitely fewer blackheads & whiteheads. The frequency of using nose strips have gone down
  • Less acne and helps in fading out old acne marks (not the stubborn ones)
  • I also see fewer rashes outbreaks (I’m prone to them in humid weather)

Why you should buy Dr.Sheth’s ABC Cleansing Gel?

Well because it’s awesome and completely beginner-friendly when it comes to being a chemical-based product. But if that’s not enough and you want more reasons then they are as follows:

  • sensitive skin-friendly
  • keeps your pores from getting clogged therefore fewer commodes.
  • reduction in blackheads & whiteheads
  • it’s totally value for money since it works for different issues
  • there is no learning curve with using this even if you don’t understand aha’s & bha’s you would still like using this.
  • not overly drying on the skin so perfect for all skin types
  • can be used more regularly compared to chemical peels.
  • you can pretty much just use this so no extra investment in 10 different chemical-based products.
  • it is compact to travel with so perfect for you if you are always on the go even under this covid situation.
  • easy to use anywhere anytime (but use it only in your nighttime routine & follow up a sunscreen in the morning)
  • if chemical peels scare you especially because of high concentration then this cleanser is a good starting point

Why you shouldn’t buy Dr.Sheth’s ABC Cleansing Gel?

  • You already own enough chemical-based products in the form of toners, peels, serums then you don’t need another.
  • If you are looking for something strong and show very quick results then this one isn’t for you.
  • Powder cleansers are more of your preferred choice than you are already using physical exfoliation and you don’t need chemical exfoliation however mild on top of that.
  • If you are taking a break from AHA, BHA products or if you are using retinoid or retinol daily in your nighttime routine then you can’t mix this cleanser in the same routine.

Final Thoughts:

I have already finished half my bottle and I am definitely repurchasing it once it gets over. If you suffer from the same things as me or are looking for a mild exfoliating product then this Dr.Sheth’s ABC cleansing gel is worth trying.
