Body Care Series: Sunscreen

We all care about our face but not all of us give that much time or care to our body. Our skin is also an organ and it needs to be taken care off, so I plan on doing a body care series over a period of time. The first post about body care I am gonna do is Sunscreen as its Summer season and a lot us believe in using sunscreens only in summers which is also wrong. Sunscreen is a must in all kind of weather, sunny or not.

We tend to stock up on sunscreens for our faces but we don’t talk about body sunscreens so here are few options which I use personally whether regularly or on vacation. Hoping this helps you out in deciding what you can buy for this upcoming sunny season.

Nivea Moisturising Sun Lotion SPF 50 & Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Spray SPF 50

I like Nivea when it comes to body sunscreen. I feel they have a few variants which we can all use. They also have a different variants for kids which is great. Now they have more variants available outside India but they recently launched their cooling sunscreen spray which comes in SPF 30 and SPF 50. I have the SPF 50 which is something I always recommend if you live in a hot and humid climate.

These sunscreens are water resistance and not completely waterproof so if you plan to swim I would recommend getting something more stronger then this or you can constantly reapply which we should be doing with any type of sunscreen anyway.

Sunscreen should be applied every 4 Hours but we don’t because we all have a very busy life or we are just plain lazy to do so. Here I feel the spray comes in handy since its not extra work just spray on your self and you are good to go.

I carried the spray with me on my beach vacation and I thought it really helped me in not getting super tanned. I get tanned really easily so for me this for a big accomplishment and this one has become my new fav body sunscreen.

Now if you don’t like carry around a big spray bottle you can always go with their older variant which also doubles up as moisturizer which is great too since I have used that a lot more before the spray. The bottle is also small and light weight and easy to carry around in your bag. But I do feel the cooling sunscreen spray is more stronger and much better comparatively if you are going for a beach vacation or if you swim and tan really easily you should definitely go with the spray version.

Skin Doctor Sun Protection Cream SPF60

A few years ago I had trip planned where I was gonna be in really hot and sweaty weather and I need something that was more water proof so I got this on someone’s recommendation from a local beauty store. I also got this because the SPF is higher then a lot of other sunscreens in the market. I like this for body I would never use this for face since its too oily for me. Now I do love the consistency for body since it also moisturizers my skin and also it sets into like a powder finish on the skin and your clothes or stuff don’t slip off your skin but I wasn’t the biggest fan of this in my trip because I mixed it with a body lotion which was stupid on my side since that made it less water resistant and I did get tan.

But I do like it here more to use it on my legs and hands and it works fine. It is a little more water resistant then the Nivea ones but I still prefer the Nivea one better. Also I don’t like sunscreen smell but I really don’t like the smell of this one. The consistency is a little thick so it takes a second to blend it in to the skin.

I can’t remember at what price I got this and I can’t find it online to link it. But if you have dry skin and you are planning on taking a beach trip this will be great for you, otherwise you can skip it.

Pure Elements Lotus & Lily Sun Control Moisturising Lotion SPF 40

We rarely find a good moisturizer plus good sunscreen combination. I really do like the Nivea one but its not hydrating enough for me for my legs and hands so I need something more and I always have to add in another body lotion before which sometimes I am too lazy to do so when I saw this in Pure Elements store I decided to give it a try.

Pure elements products are also all natural and free of chemicals and paraben so this made it amazing option when I really liked it. I use this in summer seasons since that way I don’t have to use two separate body items. Now the smell is something you will either like or you won’t. Its not bad but at the same time I don’t like the combine smell of sunscreen plus lily. Also this is great for sensitive skin since it does’t have added fragrance. This lotion is not only good for you skin but also protects you from sun damage and its effects since it has SPF 40 which is naturally derived.

This works for both oily and dry skin people. And if you like naturally derived and paraben free products you will definitely like this one. I don’t use this in winter because I need something more moisturizing and also I add sunscreen in my body lotion in winters. I also like it comes in a pump packaging makes it easier to use the sunscreen plus body lotion on a regular basis.

Remember to always use a sunscreen no matter what the weather and especially on your feet and arms which are exposed on a regular basis and also take good after sun care. Let me know if you liked the idea of body care series and what topic would you like me to do next.
