I will be reviewing Dr.Sheth’s Rosehip & Retinoid Power Emulsion in detail in this post. Every time Dr.Sheth’s launches something I am super excited and I feel very honored to give it a try & review it for you guys but that doesn’t mean I am biased. When I say I like something it’s because the product is good and it worked for me and I point out all the reasons why you should get it or why you should not get it. The same applies here.
But before we get into the product let’s first talk a little about Retinoid so you get a better understanding.
“The retinoids are a class of chemical compounds that are vitamers of vitamin A or are chemically related to it. Retinoids have found use in medicine where they regulate epithelial cell growth” This is what Wikipedia says.
They are different types or we can say components of retinoid. The strongest is usually prescribed by a doctor for serious acne issues, then there is retinol which is used in mild dosage in skincare products after much testing. Now a lot of companies use Bioactive retinol which is a non-prescription, non-irritating derivative of the Vitamin A family.
Some common side effects can be irritation, redness, flaking, and peeling. This happens till your skin gets used to or comfortable with the product.
Who needs retinoid treatment?
If you are looking for an anti-aging product you will need something with retinoid so it said to be used once you touch 30+ but a lot of teenagers or young people use it when they have terrible acne since retinoid really helps with that but that is usually prescribed.
What is a Granactive Retinoid?
Granactive Retinoid is a next-generation anti-aging product delivering the performance of retinol and retinoid derivatives with significantly lower irritation potential, thus supporting clear, visibly more youthful-looking skin with better consumer acceptance
Now lets come to the product itself and start with what the brand says:
Product Description:
Our Rosehip and Retinol Power Emulsion harnesses the power of retinoids all while being gentle and specially formulated for sensitive Indian skin! Our skin normally regenerates every 30 days to shed out the dead skin cells. Retinoids speed up that process to 14-21 days. When our skin sheds, it allows our newly regenerated cells to essentially start with a fresh canvas and you see a visible improvement in pigmentation and sunspots, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and even acne. Other retinol and retinoids on the market can be irritating. Using them without supervision may inflame already aggravated Indian skin if it’s already irritated. Ours comes with Granactive retinoid, which is gentle, effective, and perfect for sensitive skin The Bakuchiol (aka nature’s “retinoid”) in the formulation works with the granactive retinoid to power up the speed and efficacy of the process. The Rosehip seed oil with the goodness of Vitamin A gets you glowing and Vitamin C – Brightens and repairs your skin. And to top it all off, a good amount of Hyaluronic acid for hydration because brown skin can always do with more of that! (and did we mention its perfume-free?)
If you’re reaching your late 20’s to early ’30s and onwards, using a retinol product can help your skin appear youthful and glowing. If you’re in your early to mid-’20s, you can use it to spruce up your skin and as prevention for those pesky pimples.
Instruction For Use
- Our retinoid is beginner-friendly! All you need to do is post-cleansing, use a smidge at night before bed – alternate with our daily peel for best results, and watch your skin glow in a few weeks.
- And remember the sunscreen! ALL retinoids make Indian skin more susceptible to UV and pollution and we must be sure to apply a generous layer of SPF to keep our skin protected.

Packaging:
Dr.Sheth’s has outdone themselves on the packaging of this emulsion. It feels and looks like a high-end bottle. The bottle is plastic but of good quality and is sturdy. It comes with a fancy pump that squirts out the required product and nothing extra. Comes with a black cap & a gold ring band. The packaging is very travel friendly and leak proof. The name is printed on the front and usage with key ingredients is printed on the back. Most of the information is printed on the box it comes in which I never keep.
The brand sent me an extra pamphlet with all the required information on the ingredients used in the emulsion. Adding it below check it out.
My Experience with Dr.Sheth’s Rosehip & Retinoid Power Emulsion:
There is a lot of goodness packed in one bottle and all of the ingredients make it safe and very beginner-friendly when it comes to using Retinoid. I am in my late 20’s and I was planning on adding anti-aging products/ingredients in my skincare but I was scared of using retinoid by itself since it can be difficult to use if you don’t have the right knowledge but when I saw the ingredients on this emulsion and I know all of Dr.Sheth’s products are made for sensitive Indian skin I knew this was a good starting point in my retinoid journey.
The consistency of the emulsion is looking thick but when applied on the skin it melts and it’s more creamy gel-based. It gets absorbed super quickly on the skin. It does have a scent but it barely lasts you may not even smell it unless you try to. I have dry skin so it’s not hydrating for me and I need to follow it up with a sleeping mask or a thick moisturizer. But anyway it’s an emulsion so it needs to be followed up with a moisturizer so even if you have oily skin you will need to use a good moisturizer.
How I use Dr.Sheth’s Rosehip & Retinoid Power Emulsion:
I prefer using this only at night as the brands say so. I use a toner before this but I don’t apply this on wet skin I let the toner sink in first. Then after I apply this I let it be for a few mins before I follow it up with a moisturizer that has ceramide (Re-equil Ceramide moisturizer) in it. I did try this with their Haldi & hyaluronic acid but wasn’t hydrating enough for me, you can use their Cica ceramide serum in place of moisturizer if you have oily skin to combination skin.
My Journey with Dr.Sheth’s Rosehip & Retinoid Power Emulsion
This is a special addition to this review blog post since it has been a new journey for me too when it came to using retinoid since I have never used one before. I’m 28 so no time like the present to start and since I have dry skin I feel I am seeing signs of aging faster.
When I first started it I did not realize I had to start a few times a week, I got so excited I deep-dived and used it for 3 days back to back in my night time routine. So when I did my research I was like shit now what but the good thing my skin did not react in a bad way, maybe because it was already used to chemical peels of high concentration and also I use skincare products that help me keep my skin barrier intact.
So when I realized what I did wrong I cut back and started using it 3 times a week and on the days I knew I was gonna use this I did not use any other actives that include vitamin C at least for the first 2 to 3 weeks I wanted to see how this alone works for me. It worked beautifully and I got no breakouts or purging because of this, but I did notice my skin feeling a little like there were more dead skin cells on the surface which I got rid of by using a chemical peel or a physical scrub.
Some days I felt my skin looked dull and dry and flaky which later I realized was because of dead skin cells so I started using chemical peel once a week and the day I used the AHA & BHA peel I did not use this emulsion a day before nor a day after. This way I gave my skin time to heal and breathe on its own and use good hydrating and moisturizing products.
I got a few painful acne which I get rarely but this time I got it since I was having milk back to back and other dairy products like ice cream. I have reduced milk considerably in my diet but the heat was getting to me. So anyway my skin suffered and I got a few bumps and pimples but one bad painful cystic acne I went to my regular trusty tea tree oil the first day thinking it will work and when it didn’t I realized let’s try the emulsion and see how I feel so I did and did not follow it up a moisturizer just let the emulsion work by itself and it so did. The acne pretty much died by the next morning and the pain went away too. Now the spot of acne is still there but it has dried and once I use other products which exfoliate I am sure the acne will totally go away and if it leaves a mark I m sure this emulsion will take care of that too since it has vitamin C.
The constant use of this with a good moisturizer with regular exfoliation has made a huge difference. My skin feels smoother, softer, and more even out. There are times when I feel my skin feels stretchy or dry the next day of using this but if I follow it up with a hydrating routine in the day the feeling goes away. Remember however amazing the retinoid emulsion is if you don’t use it the right way it’s not gonna work. So do your research first before using this or any other retinoid. This one is great for beginners like me so I would recommend this one.
Overall my journey with Dr.Sheth’s Rosehip & Retinoid Power Emulsion has been amazing with this emulsion and I am gonna keep using this in my routine 3 times a week at night. Follow up the next morning by applying a good amount of sunscreen because you know it’s super important. I’ll definitely repurchase after this one is over and I’ll put up an update on how I feel about it after 4 months of use so do come back and check that.
My Recommendation:
If you are in your late 20’s or early 30’s and you feel like you need to start something for those fine lines or marks on your skin and have not started any anti-aging skincare then you should definitely give this a try since its very beginner-friendly. If you suffer from acne then you should try this out. This is made keeping in mind brown sensitive skin so this is definitely sensitive skin safe. It’s definitely one of the best formulations by Dr.Sheth’s. But if you are in your 20’s but no acne issue nor have any major skin concern then you can skip it
**If you are pregnant or breastfeeding stay away from retinoid or any type of chemical in Skincare
