Packaging:
The balm comes in a compact round tin packaging which is environment friendly and is very convenient to store the product. Since the tin is very lightweight and compact and keeps the stuff inside away from direct sunlight. The required information is printed on the bottom which is super nice. There is no leakage around the edges even when the balm melts a little in the heat. I really like the simple and sustainable packaging.
My Experience:
I bought this balm because I saw it on BBDI’s page on Instagram. I just thought it was unique and I wanted to try it. Before this, I only used Clinique take the day off balm and even though that one is expensive it just works really well for me. But this balm from Earth rhythm is a whole new game.
This balm has natural AHA’s that is made from fruit acid. It also has salicylic acid but that’s more in preservatives terms. The texture and consistency are like a balm which turns into oil when comes in contact with your skin. It does have a scent which is a mixture of oils and fruit, I don’t really mind the scent as much.
This did melt a little in the summer when the place I store turned hot but it also solidified by itself when the storage got cool and there was no difference in the formula. The oil does separate sometimes but you can just scoop the balm out like you usually do it doesn’t make any difference in the performance.
Now I like to keep this away from my eyes since it has AHA in it also it has castor oil and my eyes are sensitive to castor oil. So I prefer using another makeup remover just for eyes anyway I know its an extra step but I always prefer it this way since I have sensitive eyes. It cleans my skin really well. My skin feels super smooth and soft after using this, the times I use this for longer it does feel a little drying but nothing that a toner can’t fix. It deep cleans my pores and I love that. Some days I take this into the shower the steam from the hot shower with the massage gives me a spa experience.
How I like to use it:
- I scoop out some in dry clean hands and rub in between my hands and then apply it on my face and rub. This way all my makeup is lifted. When you rub the warmth of your hands turns the balm into the oil.
- Then I take some warm water in my hand and then massage it on my face. This helps the balm to emulsify and turn a little soapy. Now, this step removes all the dirt and pollutants stuck in my pores. I massage for about a min to 2 mins.
- Then I take a face sponge or a makeup remover pad( I use the earth rhythm reusable charcoal one) and wipe it across my face. This takes away the balm and dirt and makeup (if any)
- I then use another mild cleanser since I feel this leaves a slight filmy layer (nothing major) and follow up with my regular skincare routine (skip any other AHA or BHA product when you use this)
- Now the days I feel I have a lot of blackheads or congested pores and I need something I use this balm and massage it with a silicone brush head (either manual or electric) and concentrate on my nose or where ever I have blackheads like my chin area. I splash some warm water in between. I take a hot muslin cloth (not too hot) to wipe my face. This really helps and I follow it up a hydrating routine that doesn’t contain AHA & BHA
This tub is a one-time investment I have been using this for quite some time and I feel like I haven’t made the required dent in it. Overall I really like this product and I definitely love the brand and I’ll review more of their products soon. They have a total of 4 variants in cleansing balms and I’m sure you will find the one you looking for.
My Recommendation:
If you are looking for a unique cleansing balm or if you suffer from really bad blackheads then go for this. If you are looking for something you can use every day and on your eyes then skip this and try their other variant like the propolis one. If you have dry and dull skin you will like this one better just use another makeup remover for eyes. If you have oily acne-prone skin go for their green or charcoal variant.
